A lot are held nearby rather than in the neighbourhood itself, with the lake used for photographs and the reception somewhere in Chingford or Woodford. Cakes here lean towards elegant and restrained rather than showy.

Our kitchen sits about 20 minutes from Highams Park, which matters more than it sounds. A tiered cake does not travel well, and a shorter journey means less time in the car and a cake that arrives exactly as it left. We deliver it ourselves and, for tiered cakes, assemble it on site rather than moving it built.
Not every wedding needs a four tier cake, and a smaller celebration is not a lesser one. For thirty or forty guests a two tier cake is usually plenty, and it gives you a proper centrepiece without half of it going home uneaten. If you want the look of something larger, a dummy tier in the middle costs a fraction of a real one and nobody can tell from a photograph. The other option is a display cake with a plain cutting cake kept in the kitchen, which is how a lot of venues do it. You cut the pretty one, it goes back, and the kitchen plates up from the other. It is not cheating, it is standard practice, and it means you can have a design that would be impractical to serve from. We are happy either way and will tell you which makes more sense once we know the numbers and the venue.

Yes. We make vegan and gluten free cakes with the same designs and finishes as everything else, usually with a small supplement. Everything is baked in a kitchen that handles nuts, gluten, wheat, dairy and egg, so we label clearly but cannot promise an item is free from all traces.
